Leah Bryant [00:00:00 - 00:00:59]:
[00:00:03] Welcome back to the Podcasting Problem Solver. [00:00:06] I'm Leah Bryant, your go to Podcast growth Strategist, here to coach you to podcast strategically for better results. [00:00:14] Let me guess. [00:00:15] You've got great content, thoughtful episodes, and people DMing you saying, I love your show. [00:00:22] But on the other hand, you've got no inquiries, you're not booking calls, and no messages in your DMs that are like, hey, can we work together? [00:00:32] Which usually leads you to the quiet thought of, am I supposed to sell harder? [00:00:40] Well, that is a hard no. [00:00:44] Hear me when I say that, okay? [00:00:45] Because here's what most podcasters miss. [00:00:48] If your podcast feels salesy, the problem isn't in your call to action, otherwise known as cta, it's everything that came before it.
How to Convert Podcast Listeners Without Awkward Pitching
Leah Bryant [00:00:59 - 00:01:47]:
[00:00:59] Today we're talking about how to turn listeners into clients without awkward pitching, apologetic call to actions, or suddenly sounding like a totally different person. [00:01:11] And by the end of this episode, you'll know exactly why your content can be valuable and still not convert. [00:01:17] And how to fix it. [00:01:19] Here's what I see all the time inside Podcast audits. [00:01:22] Podcasters treat conversion like a moment in time instead of a system. [00:01:29] They think if they just say the right words at the end, it'll work. [00:01:34] But did you know that conversions don't start with your call to action? [00:01:41] Nope, it starts way earlier than that. [00:01:46] Think about it.
Understanding Trust and Clarity in Podcast Content
Leah Bryant [00:01:47 - 00:02:27]:
[00:01:47] If your listener doesn't already understand what problem you solve, who you solved before, and why you're the logical next step. [00:01:55] Then your call to action lands like, anyway, here's my link to Calendar, right? [00:02:01] There's no trust Runway. [00:02:02] There's no momentum. [00:02:03] You're just living on vibes and hope. [00:02:07] And hope, as I have said a lot on this podcast, is not a growth strategy. [00:02:13] Can you still have hope? [00:02:15] Of course. [00:02:16] But we're not going to rely on that as our strategy. [00:02:19] So let's break this down using two parts of the seamless podcast framework that matters most here, which is strategy and momentum.
The Seamless Podcast Framework: Strategy and Momentum
Leah Bryant [00:02:27 - 00:03:33]:
The Primary Job of Each Podcast Episode
[00:02:27] So every episode should do one primary thing, whether that's build trust, shift a belief, create clarity, or position your offer as the next step. [00:02:38] I want you to pick one, because if you don't decide the job ahead of time, your listener won't know what to do next, even if they like you. [00:02:49] Before you hit record, ask yourself, what do I want someone to understand differently by the end of this episode? [00:02:57] That, my friend, is strategic communication. [00:03:01] Now, here's where most podcasters think they're being clear, but in actuality, they're really not. [00:03:08] They'll Say, oh, I help coaches grow their business. [00:03:13] Okay, fabulous. [00:03:15] Which part of their business is it? [00:03:19] Marketing? [00:03:19] Is it sales? [00:03:20] Is it mindset? [00:03:21] Is it operations? [00:03:22] Is it all of it? [00:03:24] Because when you try to solve everything, you end up solving nothing very clearly. [00:03:30] Here's a quick test I want you to do.
Identifying the Core Problem Your Podcast Solves
Leah Bryant [00:03:33 - 00:04:36]:
[00:03:33] Pull up your last five episode titles and ask yourself, do all of these point to the same core problem, or are you bouncing between, like, time management one week, marketing strategy the next, and then mindset and then systems? [00:03:49] If a listener can't tell what your show is fundamentally about after three episodes, you've got a clarity issue. [00:03:58] Yes, and this matters for conversion, because people don't hire generalists. [00:04:04] They hire specialists who deeply understand their very specific problem. [00:04:09] So when you're planning your next episode, I want you to ask yourself, does this connect to the one problem I'm known for solving? [00:04:19] If you answer that question, well, sort of. [00:04:23] Or, I mean, it's related. [00:04:25] Leah, I want you to pause because that is a red flag, friend. [00:04:31] Red flag. [00:04:32] Your content can be varied and still be focused.
How to Build a Clear Through Line in Your Podcast
Leah Bryant [00:04:36 - 00:05:28]:
[00:04:36] So, for example, a fitness coach can talk about nutrition, workouts, recovery, and mindset, as long as it all ladders up to the same outcome their clients want. [00:04:47] The problem typically is lack of a clear through line. [00:04:51] Okay, so let's go deeper on one of those jobs that episode can do. [00:04:55] Let's say shifting a belief, because this is the one that really moves the needle for conversion. [00:05:00] Think about the last person who hired you. [00:05:03] What did they believe about their situation before they worked with you, and what did they need to believe instead before they were ready to say yes? [00:05:14] Because that gap, that's where your content lives. [00:05:18] For example, say you're a fitness coach. [00:05:20] Your ideal client might believe, I just need to eat less and work out more to finally lose this weight.
The Power of Belief-Shifting Content
Leah Bryant [00:05:28 - 00:06:11]:
[00:05:28] And what you know is that they're already undereating. [00:05:31] Their metabolism has adapted to that. [00:05:33] And more restriction is actually making it harder for them to see results. [00:05:39] Your episode's job is to shift that belief, okay? [00:05:43] To help them see, oh, it's not about eating less. [00:05:47] A body needs more fuel to actually function properly. [00:05:50] See, that's the belief shift that makes your offer the obvious next step. [00:05:55] Here's what this looks like in practice. [00:05:57] You don't just teach what to do, okay? [00:06:01] You explain why the thing they're currently doing isn't working with empathy, with specificity, and with real examples.
Validate, Reframe, and Invite: Strategic Podcast Calls to Action
Leah Bryant [00:06:12 - 00:06:52]:
[00:06:12] I want you to validate that they're not the problem. [00:06:16] They just have incomplete information. [00:06:20] And then you offer the new belief, the Reframe the thing that makes them go, wait, I've been thinking about this all wrong. [00:06:31] And when you do that, well, the call to action almost writes itself, because they've just realized they need help thinking differently about this problem. [00:06:40] And you're the one who showed them how. [00:06:43] And that's strategic content that converts. [00:06:47] Yes. [00:06:48] Which we all want that right? [00:06:49] Now, here's where podcasters get nervous.
Why Repetition and Consistency Drive Podcast Conversions
Leah Bryant [00:06:52 - 00:07:18]:
[00:06:52] They think if I mention my offer again, people are going to get annoyed. [00:06:58] Really? [00:06:58] Are you sure about that? [00:07:00] Because clarity requires repetition. [00:07:03] Your listeners don't hear your episodes back to back like you do. [00:07:07] They dip in. [00:07:08] They multitask. [00:07:09] They forget. [00:07:11] Momentum is built when your message is consistent over time. [00:07:16] The same problem, the same positioning, the same solution.
Making Your Call to Action Feel Natural (Not Salesy)
Leah Bryant [00:07:19 - 00:08:03]:
[00:07:19] That's when the call to action starts to feel obvious instead of salesy. [00:07:23] Now, if you're sitting there thinking, okay, Leah, I get this conceptually, but I have no idea if my show is actually doing this well, that's exactly what I look at inside a Podcast growth audit. [00:07:36] I uncover what's blocking your momentum and fix it strategically. [00:07:40] And guess what? [00:07:41] There's a link below where you can book yours today. [00:07:44] See what I did there? [00:07:45] Go back and listen and see how I weave that in there. [00:07:49] Now, let's talk about something that most podcasters get wrong, and that is where the call to action actually goes. [00:07:57] Here's a pattern that I see consistently. [00:08:02] 25 minutes of great content.
Where Should You Place Your Podcast Call to Action?
Leah Bryant [00:08:04 - 00:08:41]:
[00:08:04] Then suddenly, in the last two minutes, there's this abrupt shift. [00:08:08] The tone changes in your voice, your energy drops, and there's this hurried, oh, and by the way, if you want to work with me, here's a link. [00:08:17] It feels really disconnected, right? [00:08:19] Because it is. [00:08:22] Your listener just spent the whole episode with you. [00:08:25] They're nodding along, they're getting great value. [00:08:28] And then you save the invitation for the very end when they're already reaching for their keys or switching to the next episode. [00:08:35] So here's what works better. [00:08:37] I want you to sprinkle your call to actions throughout the episode.
Podcasting Conversion Tips: Sprinkling CTAs Across Your Episodes
Leah Bryant [00:08:42 - 00:09:19]:
[00:08:42] You'll mention your offer when it's relevant to what you're already talking about. [00:08:46] So if you're explaining a problem your listener might be facing, that's the moment to say, this is exactly what we address inside my program. [00:08:55] Or if you're sharing a success story, that's when you mention, if you want results like this, let's talk. [00:09:02] Don't think about it as selling harder. [00:09:05] I want you to reframe that and think about it as you're serving others by helping them. [00:09:12] So it's about inviting them consistently. [00:09:15] Okay, you're not selling, you're inviting. [00:09:18] You're helping.
How Strategic Structure Leads to Podcast Growth
Leah Bryant [00:09:19 - 00:10:09]:
[00:09:19] You're serving. [00:09:21] Because when someone hears your offer mention naturally two or three times during an episode, by the time they reach the end, it doesn't really feel like a pitch. [00:09:30] It feels like a logical next step they've already been considering. [00:09:33] Okay, all right, let me give you an example. [00:09:37] As you know, I love to do so I had a podcast growth audit recently, and they had solid production, thoughtful content, and they posted consistently, right? [00:09:48] Didn't miss a beat, but they had zero leads. [00:09:52] And when I asked them, how do you want this show to support your business? [00:09:57] There was a giant pause because they hadn't decided. [00:10:02] Their episode taught great ideas, but they never connected the dots. [00:10:06] So I didn't want to change their personality.
The Three-Part Podcast Pivot: Clarity, Alignment & Positioning
Leah Bryant [00:10:09 - 00:10:40]:
[00:10:09] I didn't want to add a bunch of pushy call to actions. [00:10:12] But what we did was change three things. [00:10:15] Only three. [00:10:16] We clarified the one problem the show solved. [00:10:19] We aligned each episode to that problem and then positioned their offer as the natural continuation of the conversation. [00:10:28] And you know what happened Two weeks after that? [00:10:31] They were booking calls directly from their listeners. [00:10:34] They were also having conversations in their DMs. [00:10:36] And that's the kind of shift that we create inside a podcast growth audit.
Building an Effective Podcast Structure for Conversion
Leah Bryant [00:10:41 - 00:11:24]:
[00:10:41] Same voice, same warmth, just strategic structure. [00:10:45] If you want to see where your show might be missing pieces, then grab your session at the link below. [00:10:51] I have spaces in January just for you. [00:10:55] Here's what I want you to remember. [00:10:56] Your call to action is only effective if the rest of the show structure supports it. [00:11:02] If your content builds trust, teaches with intention, and repeats your positioning while also clearly naming the problem that you solve well, then inviting someone to work with you doesn't feel salesy because it feels helpful. [00:11:18] Like saying, if this helps, here's how we can go deeper. [00:11:21] And look, you've got the content, you're showing up, you're creating value.
Podcast Growth Tips and Next Steps
Leah Bryant [00:11:25 - 00:11:48]:
[00:11:25] Now it's about making sure the structure supports the work you're already doing. [00:11:30] All right, if you found this episode helpful, make sure you're following the show, because next week we're talking about what happens when you're consistently publishing and doing all the right things but still not seeing growth. [00:11:41] Until next time, keep your podcast purposeful, keep those call to actions strategic, and keep your growth seamless. [00:11:47] And I'll see you next time.
