Welcome to Podcasting Problem Solver: Quick Wins for Podcasters
Welcome back to the Podcasting Problem Solver. I am your host, Leah Bryant. Go to podcast producer and certified growth coach for entrepreneurs who want results, not just a microphone and some hope. And today I am so excited to officially kick off something new for you called Thursday Quick Wins. These will be short, actionable episodes designed to give you one high impact tip you can use right away to grow your podcast without adding more to your plate. If your episodes aren't getting discovered as much as you'd like, well, today's Quick Win is going to change that. We are talking about episode titles because if you're spending hours recording and editing but your episode titles aren't optimized, you're basically hiding your podcast from people who need it. So here's a simple tweak that's going to make a huge difference for you and I need you to pay attention while I say this.
Why Clear Podcast Titles Beat Clever Ones
Clarity beats clever every single time. Let me repeat that for the people in the back. Clarity beats clever every single time. I see so many podcasters get cute or cryptic with their titles. Something like spilling the tea on scaling. And sure, that title is super fun, but it doesn't help your audience know why they should click on it, right? Or worse, it doesn't show up in search results because no one's typing quote unquote T on scaling in Apple podcasts. Instead, here's what I want you to do. Start with your topic or problem.
How to Write SEO-Friendly Podcast Episode Titles
So for example, how to scale your business without burnout. Then I want you add a benefit or a hook, like three simple shifts that actually work. And then I want you to include a keyword your ideal listener would search for. Okay, so instead of spilling the tea on scaling, your title could become how to scale your business without burnout. Three simple shifts or three simple shifts to scale your business without burnout. You see the difference? The very first one, it feels cute. But the other ones, they're going to get the clicks. This tiny tweak can double your discoverability and help the right listeners find your show faster.
Optimize Your Old Episode Titles for More Listeners
And yes, you can use this little tweak for all of your already published episodes. There is nothing that says you can't go back and change your titles. Nothing is set in stone. Please go back, optimize those titles and help those older episodes get found. So if you want more easy, actionable podcast growth tips just like this, well, make sure you're on my newsletter list free. It's amazing. We have fun.
