Welcome back to the Podcasting Problem Solver. I am your host, Leah Bryant, podcast growth strategist and coach, here to help entrepreneurs turn their podcast into a powerful growth asset without overthinking every single little detail. This is your Thursday Quick Win, a short tactical tip to help you build a podcast that works for your business, not just in your business. Before we dive into today's episode, I want you to hear directly from one of my clients. This is Brittany Herzberg. She's an incredible SEO strategist and she's sharing what it's like to partner with me on her show. And I think you'll love what she has to say.
Client Testimonial: How Strategic Podcast Support Drives Results
Brittany Herzberg [00:00:43]:
Hi, this is Brittany Herzberg, your favorite SEO strategist and host of the Basic B podcast. I work with Leah and I cannot even begin to tell you what a relief it is to know that once I record my episodes, Leah's got the rest taken care of. But the amazing audio quality and improved flow of conversations isn't even the best part. Leah is full of the latest and greatest strategic ideas that help me grow my podcast and reach even more listeners. Case in point, Leah suggested I make one tiny tweak to my show title. And you know what? My downloads increased by 45% in three weeks. I always think of it as our podcast, not just my podcast. If that's the kind of collaboration you are looking for, what are you waiting on? This is your sign.
Why Your Podcast Shouldn’t Be a Solo Project
Leah Bryant [00:01:22]:
I just love that story from Brittani. And she's right. Podcasting doesn't have to feel like a solo project. With the right strategy and support, your show can do so much more than just exist. It can grow, connect, and convert. All right, today's tip. When to update your podcast intro and what to say. Because if you've been using the same intro since episode one, it might be time for a tune up.
When to Update Your Podcast Intro
Leah Bryant [00:01:45]: Your podcast intro sets the tone. It's the first thing your listener hears every time they press play, and it's so often overlooked. So here's your reminder. If your business, brand or audience has evolved, your intro should evolve with it. And side note, this goes with your podcast as a whole too. Okay, so here's three signs it's time for an update.
1. Your Messaging Has Shifted
Number one, your messaging has shifted. If your intro still says welcome to my podcast, where we talk about all things entrepreneurship, but now you're focused specifically on service providers, wellness CEOs, et cetera, you're not speaking directly to the people you actually want to attract, right? Your intro should sound like it was written for today's listener, not who you thought you'd serve when you launched.
Leah Bryant [00:02:30]:
And this, my friends, is strategy and attraction in my seamless podcast framework, because messaging matters.
2. You’ve Added Offers or Changed Direction
Number two, you've added offers or changed direction, and that's okay, because it happens, right? It's all part of evolving in business. And in podcasting, are you mentioning a course you no longer sell? Maybe you're still calling your business ABC when you've rebranded to xyz. If your intro is stuck in the past, new listeners will be confused before you even get to the content. So we want to keep your intro height level so we don't have to update it every time your offer shifts. Instead of naming something specific, you could say helping entrepreneurs launch and grow podcasts that build their brand and bring in clients broad enough to evolve, clear enough to attract.
3. Your Podcast Intro Is Too Long
All right, number three, it's just too long. Listen, if your intro is 90 seconds of background music and then a minute of you reading your entire resume, you know what's going to happen.
Leah Bryant [00:03:30]:
Listeners are going to tune out. You've literally got 10 seconds to hook somebody. So what I want you to do is think about it like this. Who you help, what the podcast delivers, and why they should care. Bam. Plain and simple. Keep it clear, keep it tight, keep it relevant. Your intro is prime real estate.
Leah Bryant [00:03:47]:
Make sure it reflects your current strategy, not last year's. Okay. All right. If you, my friends, like tips like this, then you need to be on my email list. Come join the party. It's super fun. Closing Thoughts: Keep Your Podcast Intro Fresh and Aligned
Leah Bryant [00:04:08]:
So remember, your podcast is growing. Make sure your intro is growing with it. Until next time, keep showing up with purpose. Keep that intro short and keep it seamless. And I'll see you next week.
